Corian worktop restoration in leeds
Today, our company inspected a job that featured Corian worktops. During the survey, it was noted that the surface showed numerous scratches and appeared dull in certain areas, particularly around the sink. Additionally, one of the drain grooves had a significant crack extending through it. This issue arose because the manufacturer had made the drain groove too deep in the material, resulting in insufficient thickness at the end of the sink run where it meets the bowl. The seal had failed, allowing water to enter, which caused the Corian surface to lift and crack in the drain groove area. The finished products can be viewed on our website, worktoprepairs.com. The Corian worktop featured a brown, white, and black speckled design and was approximately 12 years old. The joints were intact and had not shifted. Our task involved completely repolishing the Corian worktop to restore its original finish and sanding out any scratches, some of which were deep. It was essential to sand each part of the worktop evenly to avoid creating dips; excessive removal of material from one area could have resulted in an uneven surface. Additionally, the flashback at the back of the worktop against the wall had split, so we removed the old adhesive and filled it with resin of the same color. The crack in the drainage groove was filled with resin; however, this area needed to be reinforced to restore its strength and then fully resealed to ensure it was watertight at the sink. This task was completed in one day.
